In 1954, eight families created a special school in the San Fernando Valley where their children with mental retardation could realize their fullest potential. A place where, apart from the fears and prejudices of others, these young people could seek out their own new horizons.
Today we provide job placement, education, counseling, training, social and recreational activities, residential services and employment opportunities to more than 500 individuals. To that end, we have built a remarkable support network of dedicated staff, volunteers and community partners who share the common vision of fulfilling our clients’ dreams.
At New Horizons, adults with developmental disabilities find acceptance, purpose, pride, friendship, respect, joy, dignity, and the opportunity to achieve greater independence. Many now live and work independently in the community, where they vote, pay taxes and do volunteer work. Learn more.
